Food Recovery Network at VCU
No one deserves to go hungry.Student organization in Richmond dedicated to alleviating hunger and food waste in the region.
WHAT is frn at vcu?
FRN at VCU is part of the national Food Recovery Network made up of VCU students who are driven to help boost food security for the surrounding regions of Richmond. We set up and carry out food recoveries in which we 'save' food from various sources (restaurants, dorm buildings, etc.) that would otherwise be thrown away as food waste. We believe that food does not belong in landfills, but instead should be used to feed communities that lack adequate resources and access to food. If you are a student at VCU who is interested in joining us, follow us on our Instagram and join us on RamsConnect to stay updated on what we're doing!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
mutual aid organizations in richmond va
What is mutual aid?
Mutual aid is the voluntary and equal exchange of services and support in order to help all members of a community have adequate resources. As opposed to charity, mutual aid is intended to be mutual thus turns accountability inward towards community members rather than leaving the distribution of these resources in the hands of select charity organizations. This list is a growing resource for individuals to seek or provide support.
Note: FRN at VCU has no affiilation with these organizations unless otherwise stated and this is meant to be a dynamic community resource.
